Some of my employees speak a foreign language and others are complaining. What should I do?
In general, if you have more than five employees you cannot restrict them from speaking a foreign language in the workplace unless you meet specific requirements. This law does not apply to non-profit religious associations or religious corporations. You can however create language restrictions if the language restriction is justified by a "business necessity;" and you notify employees of the circumstances and time when the language restriction must be observed. "Business necessity" means an overriding legitimate business purpose, which is specifically defined.
